Basket Case

Basket weaver, Pat Mercer, is influenced by regional basketry techniques and styles, as well as other visual arts, resulting in a unique collection of original designs. Most of her pieces combine function and form for a decorative piece with a practical use. Unless specifically asked to weave an exact duplicate, Pat prefers to innovate and seldom repeats designs. She is a member of the prestigious Missouri Basketry Association and the Southern WV Basketweavers Guild. In addition to baskets, Pat also weaves jewelry, ornaments, and home decor with a variety of reeds and other materials. She has had an ornament featured in West Virginia Artworks Magazine, and can frequently be found teaching classes in basketry locally.
